I’m Ben, host of Where’s Ben Wanderin’. This blog is an effort to fuse two of my passions: outdoor adventures and writing. I’ve kept them separate for decades, but the time has come to bring them together.
Growing up in suburban Philadelphia, our idea of “going outside” meant playing stickball on pavement. I went camping just once before my seventeenth birthday, an event that was cut short when a raccoon invaded the family ice chest. But I discovered hiking and adventuring while studying English at Penn State, and I’ve never looked back.
My wife and I moved to Colorado so I could complete a two-year Masters Degree program… that was in 1997. We’re still here. Together with my family and friends, I spend as much of my life outdoors as possible. We hike, backpack, downhill ski, cross-country ski, raft, paddle, fish, climb… whatever the season allows.
A medieval scholar by training, I jumped to the world of marketing copywriting after becoming disillusioned by the academic world. I’ve had the good fortune to work with some great companies in the ever-expanding Boulder natural foods and entrepreneurial communities. You can see some samples of my marketing work at my professional site.
Thanks for coming along on some of my wanderings!
